As of early March 1952 the number of Chinese Communist.troops in Paoan
Hsien had decreased and troops there had made no threat against
Hong Kong
Kwangtung Coast
As a defensive measure the Chinese Communists had torn up highways between
Ch v ihch A i (112-59,9 21?59) and Ku angh ai (11248, 21-58). and between
Kuanghai and Tpaichleng (~, th' )., a county seat of T"aishan (112?b5., 22-15)
Hsien. The Chinese Communists feared that Kuanghai and ChYihch'i might
be invaded and used as beachheads,
