There are two concrete runways, which can be used by the heaviest planes. 2. .An access road runs to the barracks of the 2 Pioneer Regiment in Otopeni, about 1 km south, in the direction of BucharestR The usual winds blow from, north to south and east to west, which is why the runways are placed as they are. At the beginning of December 1951, 35 or 40 Soviet jet fighters were observed at the field.
