.SOURCE
1. Troyan is, built on level terrain and*has a plain to the south., forests to
the norths and forests, fields, -and vineyards 'to the east and west. The
population of Troyan has increased because many families have settled there
after deportet.3.on from Sofia. The city has approximately 2.,500 houses and
I , xpanding nor tl rard.
2. The largest factory in Troyan is a spinning mills located south of the city
in a group of 2-'story buildings. The factory employs approximately 800
persons.
The following constructions are under way in the Troyan areas
a. A large hospitals located south of the city., is scheduled for completion
in 1951; and
b. An electrical--equipment factory., located east of the city., is complete
except for the installation of machinery.
There are two hospitals in Troyan in addition to the hospital now under
constructions
a. One olds small hospital; and
b. One 100-bed tuberculosis sanitarium which is used by patients from all
parts of Bu.lgard.a.
There are no automobiles in royan. Trucks and horse carts are used for
local transportation. A single bus line connects the city with Sofia.

6. The railroad station is a 2-story stone' building, approximately 30 x 12
meters in size. It was built in 1949 and is located on the eastern side
of the city.
7. A single-track line connects Troyan to Lovech* This is an extension of
the Sofia-Varna line which formerly went only as far as Loveeh,, but which
was extended 'Po Troyan in 1949 e It is rumored that ' the line is to be con-
tinued across the Troyan mountains as far as Karlovo by building a tunnel
approximately nine kilometers out of Troyan.?
8. Ration r,axds are not used in villages of the Troyan district. Food is
distributed by corporals who make distributions as they please-(sic).
The 9 Artillery Regiment of the Danubian Division is stationed in Sevl.ievoe
