The ten specialists from the M.A.N. factory in Augsburg, are still in the
dockyard setting plates under the two diesel engines in.order to lift them
high enough to fit on to the drive to the mainshaft.

Work is still progressing very slowly on this vessel. The interior is being
divided into cabins and new deck planking is being laid down. Nothing is
yet known concerning the possible installation of a degaussing girdle.
3. S.S. YAKUTIA
About 320 men are working on this ship, and are making good progress re-laying the
decks. The vessel seems to be designed partly as freighter and partly as passenger
ship, since a count of the cabins reveals that she will be able to carry approxi-
mately 120 passengers.
4. S. 8;, ADMIRAL NAKHIlVIOV .
a. The wiring of this ship had to be renewed, as it had so deteriorated that the
crew's quarters had to be lit by kerosene. lamps. The boilers have been taken
out and the boiler rooms cleaned. The stuffing box has been made watertight.
The deck planks and companionways are to some degree rotten, and the life-
'boats are not seaworthy. Furthermore, the degaussing girdle has been badly
damaged,; a few of the cables having been severed. These cables. will be
covered with rubber insulation, although the possibility remains that the
old girdle will be replaced by a new one.
b. although there is no sche4uled
date for completion of this ship as yet, repairs will last 25X1
until the Spring of 1952.
