25X1 SUBJECT Organization and Armament of a
Rumanian Mountain Infantry Battalion
The organization and armament of a Rumanian mountain infantry battalion
is as follows:
a. Staff: Commander, political officer, adjutant (aide), quartermaster,
physician (medical officer), observation post officer, 11 noncommissioned
officers and 17 privates.
b. Three rifle companies, each having three platoons, four squads and
ten men. Each platoon has one supporting squad to each Model 60
mortar and Model 7.92 machine gun type Z.B. The other squads'of the
platoon each have one light machine gun model Z.B. A company has in
all 36 Model 9 submachine guns type Orita, and Model 7.92 carbines
type Z.B.
c. The machine gun company has three platoons, each having three rifle
squads, each squad with one Model 7.92 machine gun type Z.B.
d. Trench mortar company has three platoons, each havinglthree rifle
squads, each squad with one Model 81.1 trench mortar, type Resita.
e. Antitank platoon has two Russian Model 42 anti-tank guns.
f. Technical platoon is armed with Model 48 carbines type Z.B., and
five Model 9 submachine guns type Orita.
g. Telephone platoon is similar to the technical platoon.
h. Armament of the battalion command: two light machine guns
type.Z.B., and ten Model .9 submachine guns type Orita.y
