1. A. well-known Bucharest architect called Callraanovi,,i, proprietor of a building
enterprise, handed over his business, complete with all installations and
materials, to the Ministry of Construction in 1947 in advance of thr coming
nationalization. He was a Communist. In 1948. this enterprise was amalgamated
with the CISSA, an enterprise belonging to five or six Communist architects
executing public buildings under the control of the Party, and with the
Municipal Enterprise for Popular Housingo The new company was called CIC
(Center of Construction Enterprises) and was attached to the Ministry of
Construction. Ih 1949 CIC was split into three. enterprises; Muntenia, Ardealul,
and Sovromconstructia. In 1950 Muntenia and Ardealul became independent .
enterprises working under the control of a department of the Ministry which
operated about ten such building enterprises in various parts of Rumania.
2. Building Enterprise Noe II has its grain office at Bucharest, Calea Victoriei,
next to police headquarters. In 1951, the enterprise was working on 20 to
30 buildings in Bucharest, which included such public buildings as ministries
and military buildings, and working the Danube-Black Sea Canal.. A large depot
(called Sebastian) for materials including timber, iron, cement, lime, and the
like, is located at Calea Rahovei. A railway-siding leads to the depot, where
200 to 250 workers are employed. The entire enterprise employs between 4,000
and 5,000 workers; nearly all of there: are men in their thirties. Tech-.
