the 1952 production plan, the plant's output is valued at 2,2
million east marks. t',onthly production is as follows;
200,000 piston rings, up to 160 mm
15,000 - 20,000 piston rings, 160 - 400 mm
2000 piston rings 400 - 1, 500 mm
To this monthly output must be added 150 stuffing box packings for
locomotives.
2c The present production rate requires 50 - 60 tons of gray-iron
casting nonthly, which is supplied by the plarts o'in iron fray.
The raw material is delivered by the P axhitte and the Hdttenkori-
binat Oat, but part of it comes from Russia, Poland, and Sweden,,
Deliveries from 1-testern Germar' stopped long ago. The quality
requirements cause continuous difficulties, because relatively
little Swedish iron is available and other iron does not contain
sufficient carbon? Therefore, the average monthly waste amounts
to 30 percent, whereas in normal times, waste did not exceed 20
percent,
3. A factory witha production capacity of 40 million piston rings is
to be built in the vicinity of Warsaw0 The plant manager of Infosto
was requf'ted to submit a detailed report, listing machinery and
installations, including the necessary.blueprints, which would be
required for such a factory The manager at first declined, then
submitted an incorplete document which did not represent the latest
technical developments. The plan was returned and a new one de-
manded. The manager refused and fled to the Uest,
