The Electromotor Factory (formerly Friederich) has been enlarged through the acquisition of some new machinery and some taken from other factories. It produces electric motors and transformers and is located in Timisoara, 12 Calea Republica, near the station. The factory employs a total of 500 clerks and workers. 2. The factory has several branches which enable it, with the exception of raw materials, to be largely selfsustaining. The iron foundry produces engine casings from scrap iron. They are cast in wooden moulds. Finish- ed casings are also supplied by the Electroprecizia Factory at Craiova. Metal matrices serve for the casting of engine parts; the casting moulds are made by the tools section of the factory. Two shifts are employed for a work day of 16 hours. The iron foundry has two furnaces and two cooling fans. Aluminum motor parts are cast in metal matrices made in the tool shop. The bronze foundry works only occasionally. The tools section of the factory produces matrices for the foundries and in ad- dition various bakelite matrices for the Electrobanatul Factory in Timisoara. One hundred men are employed in three shifts. 3. Equipment at the factory is composed of Rumanian, Czech, and Soviet types. In general, the older machines are regarded as better than the new ones. 4. The factory produces all-purpose electric motors of five or six h.p. weighing about 200 kgs., and electric motors for mines. The latter are small and have an iron protection case. It is believed they are used in pumps. The total monthly production is between 700 and 800 pieces. STATE ARMY x NAVY X NSRO FBI- CLASSIFICATION SECRET/CONTROL - Ti. S.
