1... In March 1952, the Chinese Communist Navy had 30 gunboats in Kwangtung. The
gunboats Numbers 1-4 are Japanese-type landing craft, each equipped with 2 x 13 mm
guns] Numbers 5-9 are American-type landing craft equipped with 2 x 12.7 man. guns;
Numbers 10-30 are American type landing craft equipped with 2 x 13 mn guns.
On 15 March Kwangtung Naval Headquarters reorganized motor junks into teams
consisting of 10 to 16 motor junks and 1 gunboat. One team was assigned to each
hsien along the Kwangtung coast.
In March the Soviet 4 Submarine Squadrons consisting of 24 submarines, was stationed
at Peichiao Island (111.' , 17.' ) with 100 Soviet technicians.
