SUPPLEMENT TO
On 11 April 1952 SU Yu, deputy commander of the 3 Field Army,l? arrived I.P.
Shanghai from Nanking,, and entrained for Hangc how that evening. He was
accompanied by YUAN Yeh-'L.eh, commander of the East China, Navy, and two
naval staff officers
SU intended to inspect the Fleet Colusr:2 of the 7 Aa?>_ry Group at Han.gchow,
and was then to inspect coastal defenses at Ningpo (.21-32, 29-5.i and
other places. SU was making this insperstion trip because he had not
had personal contact with command and combat persoie: of the 7 Army Group
since he left Chekiang almost two years ago.
