THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The Regionala C o1.ec:t..: _: de Cereale Zalau `Zalau Regional Organization for
the Collection of Cercair-) is a state organization. Its tasks consist of
the collection of cereals in the old Salaj District, now known as the Carei
area, It is tocat.ed. at Ce ._ml-S lvaniei, a town dth 7,000 inhabitants.
Sixteen ''bases' have been e ,t:at;lished for the actual collection, which is
directed by the re ..or-iai or ga.r .nation. Of these, seven are located at:
Tasnad, Valea Lui ML.hai, Care.i. 9 Acas, Mofttinul Mare, Supurul-De-Jos,
Cehul-SiL aniei.
During 1950 and 1 :?. a : tomb r of depots were constructed near some of the
bases. These are wooden structures able to hold between 3,000 and 4,000
tons of cereals. There are depots at Tasnad, Carei, Supurul-De-Jos and
Z alau ,
3. During 19509 30,000 tons of cereals were collected in the Carei District.

6. As of January ? 952, according to a law passed on that date, all farmers
and private landowners are obliged to cede to the state a quantity of meat
in the form of l..vest s:::K: , in addition to the cereals, milk, and eggs which
must be supplied in ac'.o rdance with previous laws. One hundred kilograms
have to be supplied. to the state on properties up to five hectares, and
progressively more on larger properties. It does not matter if the farmer
raises livestock or the specified amount must be obtained and the law
obeyed.
