Entrance to the Burgas harbor is restricted to the. hours between 8.44 a.m. and
6;00 p.m.,. daily. An inspection group boards ships before iey enter and leave
the inner harbor. The group searches for possible stowaways and propaganda
material and seals all cameras and binoculars... Only the ship's captain was
allowed to go ashore.
Ira mid.-Jan y .1952, there was little activity at the harbor. There were no
ships in the harbor when informant's vessel arrived,, and no steamships of any
kind either entered or left the harbor while informant was at Burgas. Two
Soviet motor beats of unspecified size and description entered the harbor, but
informant could not observe any activity resulting from the arrival of the
boats.
Tnfgrma.nt saw three or four young Soviet army officers walking about the
streets of Burgas. He did not see any soldiers, military vehicles, weapons,
or aircraft. There was very little food available in the..shops.
