The Revolutionary Military Council has ordered the six major military area commands to establish Veterinary Training Schools. The order stated that animal transport was important in China because trucks were not able adequately to transport troops and supplies over its poor road network. 2. Veterinary Training Schools.t'ave been established in the Northeast, Northwest, and North China Military Areas, where there are an ,ppreeiab: number of oaWWi,ry u:nits0 In addition. a Military Animal Husbandry Department has been established by the Supply and Service Command. Except for these, no personnel or a program. for the care of animals haB been specifically designated. This order for the establishment of Veterinary -Training Schools is an attempt to provide an adequate number of veterinary personnel to treat animal diseases and reduce the mortality rate of horses and mules0 The order further stated that the ratio between veterinaries and animals should be as Collows A veterinary surgeon for every 100-150 horses and mulea. 'b0 A veterinary anti.-epidemic center for every 1,000-1,500 anireals. In addition each military area command will establish a veterinary epidemic research unit0 All personnel will. be trained by the Veterinary Training Schools.
