10. A special Border Guard training battalion, known as Iskur, has been formed in 35.
infantry Regiment at Vratsa. The battalion has one company of three platoons,
composed of woodsmen, trappers, and hunters, who are considered specialists at
detecting clandestine border crosser s in the more isolated parts of the frontier.
All old German-type light weapons in 35 infantry Regiment have been replaced
by Soviet weapons,
Within the last two months, troops from the ',Prudov'aks have begun. to be transferred
'to regular Army units In the past, soldiers who were considered to be poor
security risks or who did not openly support the regime were assigned"t;o `lrudovak
duty. Now the more ixite ..igent men and those who have shown loyalty to the re-
gime are being sent to special training schools at Sofia and :FC azhevo after
I which 'they are enrolled In the regular Army; some of the men are made non-commission-
ed officers,

was divided into two groaips, the first being. Vann t to Vi.din and the other to
Kula. There were also two infantry regiments sfs:tio.ned in the Kula area.-
