1. Bulgarian civil aviation is organized as a Bulgarian-Soviet society named TABSO
(Transportno-Aviatsionno Bulgaro-Snyetsko Obshtestvo; Bulgaro-Soviet Air Trans-
port Affiliation), which contols only domestic lines. TABSO Uses two-engine
Soviet-type Douglas planes. At present there are :One following domestic flights:
Sofia, Gorna Oryakhovitsa, Ruse (possibly), .Varna, and return;
b, Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, and return; and ?
c. Varna, Burgas, and return.
2. The planes are filled to capacity for each trip and for this reason it costs
little to travel by air. A ticket from Sofia to Varna costs as liZtle as a
second-class ticket on the train, i.e., 3,000 leva. Each plane it ftilSt boarded
by a police agent who subjects the passengers and their baggage to a minute
examination in an attempt to discover firearms.
