ba. The total number of workers employed on the site was about 2,300. Work
was organized in two 10-hour 'shifts daily.
C* When the 618/4 Labor Battalion arrived at Jobbdgyi.. three large tunnels
had already been bored into the hill. east of the town and the battalionts
first task was the removal of earth and stones.
d, During 1950 the three railway links to the mouths of the tunnels were
completed. In mid-fall 1950, work was begun on construction inside the
hill. There was-a chronic shortage of cement which delayed progress
a`.. considerably. Safety precautions, particularly in regard to temporary
shoring up of passages and chambers, were very inadequate with the result
that accidents occured frequently; in these some 20 workmen lost their

(1,) the plant will have no foundry and its function will be to
produce from semi-finished parts (fdlk6szgy4rtm&ny) supplied
by other factories;
( 2,) the plant is to produce artillery and mortar ammunition (less
fuses and warheads..) at the rate of 150-200 tons per day;

a, At the end of.April 1951, the 618/4 Labor Battalion was moved to
Feln6met and placed at the disposal of the No, 36/2 State Construction
Trust which was then engaged in construction of an underground
"ceramics factory" (see paragraph 2d below), The work was not regarded
as secret,
b. The work was very similar to the one at Jobbdgyi and consisted of
clearing an underground tunnel in the hill east of the town. There
was no other- labor battalion at the site; there were other laborers,
however, of unknown status, and the total labor force numbered about 1,2Q0,
