Strength
1) Each battalion consists of 2 companies of motorizedd, riflemen,,.. 1 heavy
weapons company, and 1 company of armored cars; 4 companies in all,
2) Each company is divided into 3 platoons., and each platoon into three
squads; There are 15 men in each squad.
3) Each battalion has a radio-telegraph platoon, manning four stations,.
one for each company,
4) The. 6th Battalion has 2' armored gar companies and 2 tank companies
5) The. 7th Battalion does not have any armored car companies.
6) The heavy weapons companies consist of:
1 platoon (3 squads), having three 41 mm. anti-tank weapons, one for
each squad.
1 platoon (3 squads), equipped with three 82 mm. mortars, one'fer'
each squad.

1 platoon (3 squads), armed with an unknown number of Maxim machine guns
The armored car companies consist of 3 platoons,. usually employed as
6 half-platoons, Each half platoon operates 2 armored cars. The
armored cars are Russian 1942-types. Each car is armed with a Degty-
are$ " 12.8 caliber machine gun.,,
8) The loth Battalion is in. the process of organization.
Recruiting. All candidates are: thoroughly screened for loyalty, Approximately
80 per cent of all candidates are proteges of Communist Party functionaries

Training. The training emphasizes,
1) Combat at night..
Tactical exercises in conjuction with friendly or against hostile
partisans,
3) Rouse-to-house combat and street fighting

Strength.
The 1st Region (Budapest) has an estimated force of 2,500 plain-
Clothes men.
2) All regional office employees are civilians.
3) Each regional office has at its disposal one company of.the regular
gendarmery. A gendarmery company consists of 3 rifle platoons and
1 heavy weapons platoon..
Each of the gendarmery rifle platoons are divided into 3 squads.
A heavy weapons platoon of the gendarmery is divided into 2light
mortar squads and 2 machine gun squads.
Special police,, guarding vital. industrial installations, are subject
to the orders of the regional offices.
It is believed that the AVH airfield police is also responsible to
the regional offices. AVH detachments are known to be stationed
at the following airfields:
Buda Srs, Vecsts,- Si6fok?,,; Szombathely, Gy8ry Pecs, Szeged,, B:6kescsaba,
Debrecen, Miskolc.
