1, Merchants arriving at Hankow from Hunan stated that between 10 and 15 June,
about 300 railway ears were assembled at Hengyang (112-35, 26-56). On 15
June they left Hengyang.
On 15 June, 240 naval cadre, who had been enrolled at Hankow and Auchtang
(114-178 3032), by the Central and South China Military Area's Navy Depart,-
went, boarded a southbound train at Wuchvang9 enroute to an unknown destines
ation in K`wangtung for training.
On 20 June a group of senior cadre from the Central Military College and
from Central Naval and Air Force Headquarters arrived at Hankow6 Senior
cadre from the Northeast Military Area., North China Military Area and Honaxi
Military District arrived at the same time. On 22 June all entrained for
Canton to attend a conference called by the Central and South China Military
Area and to inspect conditions for expansion of forces in the South China
Military District?
A person who arrived-in Hankow from Ich'ang (111-17., 3042) stated that in
mid-June Soviet personnel came to the Yangtze River Shipping Administration
to supervise boats on the, upper Yangtze in night-sailing technique.
5. On 28 June a shipment of heavy weapons arrived at Hankow via the Peiping-
Hankow Railway and immediately was transhipped to Cantons The shipment
included eight medium tanks,, four 75 mum guns, and over 10 other mountAin
and field guns*
Between 13 and 30 June Jet planes were active daily at the Wuch'ang-Henkew
Airfield and Watung (East wuch'ang)Airfield. They usually took off in
