1. In the period 3 to 25 December 1951 the Military and Civilian. Railroad
Commission of Katowice inspected railroad and road bridges in Katowice and
Opole vol.vodsbi.ps to check if the bridges were provided with points for
depositing mines, All bridges were to be thus prepared by 1 May 1952.
2. On 15 February 1952, an exercise in loading and unloading of military
equipment on. railroad cars was held in the West Opole Station 0 eln -
P51/317). I I stationed in West Opole and 25X1
stationed in. Opole took part in the exercise
3. During late 1951 several railroad shops in Swidnica (550%87- and Opole
were converted to the production. of ammunition trailers and general axle
and wheel units which may be used as light artillery carriages.
4. In a forest about six km. from Jastrzebia (Jasterheim - P52/C07) on the
Opole-Namyslow railroad line there is an ammunition, factory which was
formerly a German raw material factory built entirely underground. Fifteen
to twenty railroad cars of equipment are sent out weekly from this factory.

5. An armored. unit is located in the Kothprachci.ce (Gumpertsdorf) area near
0 pole. On'2' January 1952 this unit received 18 light and 28 heavy tanks
located in Zurawiec (Scbwandorf) Another report state; that
left Kompracheice for a western station.
6. A new road suspension bridge is being completed in Bartoszyce (Bartenstein). The
bridge is wide enough to allow tanks to pass each other.

In the fall of 1951 an underground cable was laid in Szczecin (Stettin)
voivodship along the main. road from Mysliborz (Muetzelburg) to Starogard
by the Polish Army. The road was blocked to all civilian traffic and only
military vehicles were allowed to pass.

During late 1951, Construction began on three airfields in the Kamien Slaski
(Gross Stein) area, One airfield is located near the Kamien Slaski railroad
station; it was completed in May 1952. Eleven gasoline storage tanks were
installed at the airfield, Four of these were of 50 tons and seven,20 to
25 tons.
j is stationed at Modlin near Warsaw. The unit composed of
1,500 men, is commanded by a Russian. It has a large shop for repairs of
rifles and automatic weapons. During January 1951, 1,280 automatic weapons
were assembled there; they are of the new type with steel folding stocks.
New parts were brought from the Radom factory. The assembled weapons were
to be used by this unit. The old automatic weapons of the unit were sent
to the Lublin armory.
10. A uranium. mine is located in Kozice near Walbrzych (Q51/H07): The mine's
three shafts are in production; each shaft employs thirty people. In the
vicinity of Walbrzych, exploratory shafts were sunk and sammles were sent
to a laboratory to be tested for uranium.2

Comment-, reported that the Kozice mine was shut down in
September 1951, probably as a result of the mine's low productivity. No
further information is available to indicate whether this mine has been
reopened, or whether there is another mine in the same area.
