The Kutla Party (Free National Bloc) has established a branch in Ajelat in
the Western Province of Tripolitaniao The new Kutla members were recruited by
All Aghabl, former Qadi of Ajelat, who is a member of the Party's Executive
Oommittee? This branch consists of only a handful of members, and the influence
of the Katla remains limited to the Old City in Tripoli.
T1,e Ki.itla has not recognized the present form of rule in Libya. The Party
claims to stand for a republican regime and believes that the Libyan Constitution
was not enacted by a truly constituted National Assembly,
All and Avhmed Flgih Hassan have 'since the deportation of Beshir Bey Sadawi,
been conducting the activities of their Party with caution. Both are holders
of Turkish passports and have been careful not to become involved in any anti
Government activities that would make them liable to deportation. Prior to
Sadawi?s deportation in February 1952,.the Kutla concentrated on politically
agitating the working class, unemployed elements, and school children to oppose
the Government. Since February, the Kutla has avoided this type of activity.
