These bearings included rollers weighing up to 1.8 kgs o each, for shaft diameters varying between 6 and 180 nsn 'these roller bearings, designed for conveyor systems were delivered to SAS :Blelchert & Co.,, Leipzig; Lauchhammerwerke., Lauehhamer; SAG Makeneon, Magdeburg; SAG Buckau-Wolf, Magdeburg. Other bearings both of ball and roller type included needle bearings for shaft diameters of 15 to 60 mm. with a needle thickXiess of 2 to 5 mm.. This material was destism%L for machine tool factories, motor vehicle plants and the electrical industry, 2. Plans for the expansion of the FJ?kner plant call for the rebuilding of the workshop destroyed by the Russians. at the end of the war. Supplies of building materials for this project arrived in Fabruary 1952. The workshop concerned is situated near to the rail yard about 800 mo from the main d from Erkrier to Berlin. Fourteen special machines for the production. of bearings were received at F'xkner by the beginning of March. This equipment was supplied by Pittler Wer?k.zeuur.gmaschi.nenfabrik,. Leipzig, and was intended to enable the concern to begin production of special bearings, according to plans which existed when the factory was in the hands of the Fischer concern. This new production inc.lu:desa ao Ball bearings: ring-groved ball bearings, single and double bank Zr .orad3.al and axial load; ring pendulum bearings, single and double bank for radial load; disc-grooved ball bearings for axial load; ring collar bearings for small electric motors. Roller bearings: ring barrel bearings for the some use'.. s t ;4: Guam bearings but with a greater load capacity; ring cylinder bearings for heavy load in radial direction; ring conical bearings for heavy loads In both radial and axial directions, especially suitable for machine tool and motor vehicle construction; disc barrel bearing3for high strains at low speeds. Fifty-six tons of chromium alloy steel have arrived in Erkner from Unterwellenborn for the production of these new-type bearings. The cages for the bearings are being made of the castings or plastics' 5. In February 1952,: production was begun at Ersner on the following: a. Precision steel rolls, types 'IN" and "W". The "N" rolls are in diameters and lengths from 5 to 4+0 mm. The "W" rolls have diameters from 8 to 40 mm. and lengths 8 to 65 mm. The production of the above is in series. b. Precision steel balls, These are being made according to English dimensions from 1/16" to 2". The above production is based on standards already set up by the former Fischer concern. 6. On 1 February, 19521,a total of 204 persons was employed in the ball bearing factory at Erkner. SECRET/CONTROL - U.S. OFFICIALS ONLY Approved For Release 2006/04/18 : CIA-RDP82-00457RO13300470004-3
