1. The airfield is about 6 km. port of Veszprem, at the point tirhere the VeszpAm-
Celld8m8lk-Szombathely railroad makes a sharp westward turn. The bti .l.d; e
of the field are in a wooded area which surrounds the base.
2. There is one concrete runway. The rest of the field is surfaced with grass
The subsurface consists of .earth to adepth ")f 30-40 cm., resting on a lime-
stone bed. There is evidence that the field is going to be enlarged..
3. A spur-track, not indicated on-he enclosed sketch, connects the field with
the main railroad line.
4. The wind is predominantly easterly.
5. The source counted 80 plates of the following descriptions
a. 2-motor reconnaissance planes with 3-blade propellers, approximately 40
b. 4-motor heavy bombers, about 30 machines
c. The rest, approximately 10, were jet-propelled fighters.
6. During, the time of observation in May 1952, the jet fighters were very active..
Day and night missions were flown singly and in pairs.
