During 1951 and 1952, :En.gin,eer Aleksander Szpilewicz1 department head in the
Polish Ministry Of ..1\41TIirg, Krucza 3, Warsaw,. made several official visits
to the Di^R in his capacity- as liaison official between the Polish Ministry
of W. ing and the D.DR Government . He is charged in particular with maintaining
liaison with the :De 7R State PlanrLl.ng Commission and its Ze:ntralamt fuer Forsehung
and Techrilk (ZAFT) for the pu'pose of scientific-technical cooperation and
exchange, of experi er, ces In the fi,el.d of mining. Szpil:ewicz B latest trip
to the Tpf"f oc erred di. ri.r;g -t;he. latter part, of April. 1952'. He remained -lit the
DDR until 2 May 1.952. Luri~.g the first part of this visit, Szpilewicz was
in company of one Ackermann:(f:nu) whom he introduced. as an official of the
Polish Ministry of ni,tiitig. The two men were shown an exhibition of synthetic
products in Leipzig by the head. of the DDR State Planning Commission, Heinrich
Rau, and by, offic.I a], of UK,'. Later, Szpilewicz visited ZAFT alone on a
number of occasiox s, in. particular its WPZ department (Wissenschaftlich
Technische Zusammenarbeit), charged with scientific-technical cooperation
between the, L DR and, -the peoples' democracies, the Konstruktionsbuero Industriebau
(), Perlin, and the Polish Trade Mission, in Berlin.
