THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. Ball bearings for trucks are being manufactured in the local metal works in
Katowice, 1419 Fabryczna Street0 All are transported to the USSR, The
factory employs approximately 18500 workers9 and eight Soviet engineers are
on the technical staff. Polish soldiers guard the areas
2. A big explosion occurred in the Huta Batory in Chorzow on 19 May 19529
as a result of a defective furnace. Eight workmen were seriously injured..
The UP (Security Police) arrested the chief engineer, a Pole9 and three
workmen on a charge of sabotage.
3. The foundry is now producing 'teel plate, 5 man. thick9 1 m. 20 cm. wide,
and 3 m. long. The plates are all .transported to the USSR.
