Metalimport, a state enterprise under the control of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, is located on the premises of the postal customs house (Varna Postei) in Bucharest. It has a staff of 230 employees, 2, The General' Manager of Metalimport is Ion Muntranu, a former worker and the Assistant Manager is an engineer named Serban. The technical adviser of Metalimport is Erna Bruch, CLASSIFICATION SECRET Metalimport deals with the import of iron, tin plate, wire, railroad, and streetcar rails, imported mostly from the USSR, but also in small quantities from Hungary,, Czechoslovakia, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Switzerland. Metalimport supplies all state enterprises as well as the ITB (Bucha- rest Streetcars), the IPEIL (Enterprises for the Exploitation and Industrialization of Wood), and other enterprises, The Department for Supply and Distribution of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Chemical Industry serves as intermediary between the company and its customers. The daily turnover varies between 50 and 100 million lei.
