THIIIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1, The entire Bulgarian population is obliged to enroll in political education
.courses which last three to five months and are given either at their
place of work or at the Otechestven Front offices, These lessons
are given once a week, generally on Friday from 7 p,m, to 9 p.m,
2. The instructors are members of the Communist Party or persons chosen among
well-educated Communist Party sympathizers, Presence at these lessons is
mandatory, and the only absences tolerated are those of aged people.
The-lessons generally cover propaganda subject,% particular emphasis being
placed on the Soviet policy of peace and on the vast industrial and
military development of the Soviet Union,
3, At the conclusion of these courses, examinations are given and the best
students receive Communist propaganda publications as prizes. Also, they
may be granted special privileges later on in their careers,
Communist Party members may take their courses in the Soviet Union or in
Bulgaria. All those who go to the Soviet Union for these special courses,
speak Russian fairly well on their return and are hired as instructors for
the courses given in Bulgaria.
