The Cheb/Oberschon Airfield 5001+N-122 was located approximately three km east of Cheb and about five km south of a highway LPoi.nt #1, Encl (A 25X1 A double track railroad, running from Cheb to Marianske Lazne LT+958N-1242p7 passed approximately one and one-half km south of the airfield. This airfield was approximately two thousand in long, east to west, and approximately 400 in north to south. Point #1 HIGHWAY. This highway had an asphalt surface and was approximately eight m wide. It ran from Cheb to Marianske Lazne, #2 ROAD. This was a dirt road from Cheb to 55005N-1225g .#3 ROAD. This road had a concrete surface and was approximately six in wide. It ran from Cheb to Falknov (Sokolov) L5011N-1238 . #4 GONIOMETER ,UIPMENT. This equipment was located on two trucks which were parked on the field. #5 BUILDING. This building, constructed of wood, was approximately three by four m, it was three in high and had a flat roof. There was Er pole 10 in high at each.corner of this building; each pole had an antenna on top. The aircraft were fueled cks; 25X1 25X1 4. This airfield was used only during maneuvers, which came around August RUNWAY: This runway, constructed of concrete, was approximately 7200 m long and approximately 60 m wide,,' This was the only runway on the field, and ran northeast-southwest. #7 TENTS: These tents measured approximately four by five m; some 200 paratroopers lived in the tents, 25X1 #6 #8 TENTS UTILIZED AS HANGARS: 25X1 All aircraft were-parked in front of these tents. #9 ANTIAIRCRAFT they were temporary emplacements. #10 CONTROL TOWER: This control tower was installed within a truck. #11 BOMBED OUT BUILDING AND HANGARS #12 ROAD: This was a dirt road leading from the highway point #7, and was the only point of access to the field. #13 HEADQUARTERS: A group of tents served as'the headquarters. #lk HANGARS: These hangars were tents; aircraft were repaired there. #15 TENTS: These tents housed approximately 70.airmen. #16 HIGHWAY: This highway had an asphalt surface and. was'' approximately six in wide; it ran from Cheb to Kozly* ,~j0Ol}t=1225, to September. The weather in general was. very good and flying` was uninterrupted. Members of the Armed Forces have to be in the service at least one year before they are allowed to participate in these maneuvers.
