Dr, Guyenot pointed out that. any technical improvement would necessita e on the potrt of the hussi.ans a decision as to whether the devices were to be "functional. devices" tFunktionsgeraete) or "linear computors for carrying out commendsA' , but he stated that ir.iprovement would onJ. be possible through an i.r,?rease of "the angular velocities of the t,a.ranyl~~"~~ CLASSIFICATION SECRET - X raAW 1 _r` _N DI5? 12113 T ON J rnxE - r r t MY fl R FEtr ~'I,y ?~T~ `Y Approved For Release 2006/11/13 : CIA-RDP82-00457RO15800240004-1 Approved For Release 2QQ 1x,1/13 : CIA-RDP82-00457RO15800240 The last five devices of the 1952 delivery of 79 will be tested for several weeks; the Russian request for technical improvements of the deirices will be based on the outcome of the tests, Ratmirov suggested that experience gained from the devices delivered in 1.950 and 1952 males it clear already that about 5U construction changes nust be Considered for the 1953 modelo In answer to a query of Ratmirov, Rommel declared that Zeiss will be able to produce and deliver 135 devices and 30 sets of spare parts in 1953 Provided that certain conditions are accepted by the .+iussianso One of these conditions is that Zeiss be authorized to perform certain changes in the wiring of the devices to make it easier to adjust them. The Russians saw no objections to such changes, on the condition, though, that all changed parts be easily exchangsable with corres; onding parts of earlier models, The Zeiss representatives stressed the point tha,- the most important condition for acceptance of the -rder was that raw material and auxiliary equipment be provided on schedule,. Since Zeiss supplies for the construction of Aal devices are completely exh_usted, the Russians will have to see to it that DIA, the + :3t German ministries, and "the highest ia.st German authorities" provide the desired items not later th, n 1 December 1952? The following items are needed: 46 metric tons of steel and iron 46 metric tons of light metal 25 metric tons of cast light metal 4 tons of cast nonferrous metal I. 8 metric tons :f foundry products 10 metric tons of nonferrous semif.nished products 35 requested the huisia.ns to have .Last German authorities allot the quotas and adequate priorities for these items immediately Additional investment funds must be allocated to Zeiss because changes in the construction of the Zeiss production halls well be required if the 1953 order is to be fulfilled. ~T Approved For Release 2006/11/13 : CIA-RDP82-00457RO15800240004-1 Approved For Release 2006/11/13 ClA-RDP82-00457R0t580D2 25X1 25X1 If t:-ie conditions covering the allotment of material raid wostc rn cl:rr nicv can be met in time, i,eiss will be able to cc,w.pt ? odt,h, the fc-_:L..1,3 rinS deliv ry schedule. 5 devices on 30 June 1953 L5 devices on 31 July 1953 '.5 devices on 31 August 1953 ?5 devices on 30 September 1953 :'5 devices on 31 October 1953 '5 devices on 30 November 1953 ,5 devices on 15 December 1953 Onc^ week after the conference, the.
