1. .:o crated: jet bombers were observe: arriving at Brand airfield during the
period .f:?ori early 1952 until late ;eptewber 1952. UIL-.23s and IL-28s
practiced formation. flying, firing at sleeve targets and bombing. Instru-
ment flying with blocked front zwimlows of the cockpits was practiced with
both UIL--28s and IL-28s.1 Only once was it observed that three jet bombers
took off simultaneously, two of then side by side. 25X1
taxing IL-28s had crews of four awl that the cbser

cockpit was in a prone position. 3'n UIL...28s? fire men were occasionally seen.2
Flying personnel generally were 23 to 25 years old, and in no case older than
35 years.
2, At a technical conference attended by Lieutenant Colonel Sireltsov, Captain
Pshinichni, ' Ta jor Olejnik and ~.ia jor .Tironenko, the load factors to be expe rted
for roads covered with 15 cm of concrete were discussed. In this connection,,
oaded tank trteks had a total load of 3 tons, while loaded
trailers treigh 7 tons. The empty b eight of tank trucks and trailers was given
as 4.5 and 3.5 tons respectively. This indicates that tank trucks and trailers
had a capacity of 3.5 tons of ? aso ine each. .:hen jet bombers refuelled, tank
trucks gore parked in front of the left engine.3
3. Details on the starti i.,^ of Jet engines were not available. lIowwever, 25X1
f`acilit es for a total of 18 starter carr a es
