Prior to 1 April 1952, an infantry battalion of about 5tc mean with black- bordered red epaulets was quartered in the Jana Zizka Barracks at the northeastern edge of 1Itkulov (Nikoleburg, P 49/S 56) on the southeast side of the read to Klentnice (P 49/S 56). The barracks installation had a wire mesh fence, 2 meters high, and consisted of about 10 flat brick buildings; 2 stables, about 50 meters long; 1 forge shop; and 1 gun shed, about 30 meters long, with !t large gates. The commanding officer was a major. Sentries and departing detachments were armed with pistols or rifles. The total number of horses was estimated at about 10C, including 25 borrowed by state owned farms. Two types of giins were repeatedly seen. One type had two rubber tired disk wheels of about 75 cm in diameter and a small tail wheel. The gun barrel projected about 150 cm from the slanting low shield. The caliber was aba-t 70-mm. It had no muzzle brake and no visible gun cradle. The length of the gun was about 4 meters and its height was abotft 130 cm. It was drawn by two horses which were led by hand, with a pole attached to the tail wheels The other type had a box-trail gun carriage about 220-cm long, disk wheels with solid tires of about 120 cm in diameter, a barrel, about 2 motors long with an estimated caliber or more than 100-mm, a cradle which nearly extended to the muzzle and no muzzle brake, and a shield which projected about 20 cm above the barrel. The total length was about 5 meters and its hei0it about 180 cm. It was drawn by 4 horses. Source saw six guns each of both types. 2. An infantry battalion of about 500 men wearing black-bordered red epaulets was quartered in @ barracks installation about 150 meters southeast of the Zizka Barracks, on, the northeide of an east-west street. Source saw two three-story buildings, about 6o meters long, which were separated from the street by a wire mesh fence, about 2 meters high. He noticed numerous trucks enter -ng and leaving the barracks installation th ich the population referred to as the "Motorized Barracks."1 25X1A 3.. The SNB district office was at the northeast edge of the tasaryk Square. I IComment. According to information of October 1950, the 10th Tnf Regt is carried in Mkulov where all its components were to be transferred. The guns seen are probably light and heavy infantry guns which possibly belong to the regimental units of the 10th Inf Refit.
