In late December 1952, twelve hundred trainees were taking a one-y6ar course at the 4 Junior Infantry-School of the Central and South China Military'Area at Kueilin (110-10, 25-20).l 2. On 20 December Ll Tso-p'eng (2621/0155/7720),2 the principal, and LIU Ch'i-ien (0491/0366/0086), the political commissar of the I+ Junior Infantry Training School, arrived in Kueilin from Hankow to visit Chinese Communist forces in Kwangsi and inspect the school. These two officials gave the following; instr:~ctions to the school directors: a. In March 1953, to transfer 60 percent of the 700 graduates of the school to army units, to assign 30 percent to specialized technical training programs, and to select 10 percent as air and naval cadets. b. During 1953 to increase the total number of trainees in the school's Air Force preparatory class. c. To incorporate Russian-language courses into the school's curriculum and adopt Soviet drill methods for infantry training. d. To train the students to organize and direct political and informal units in addition to training them as military cadres of party cell organizations. 1o Comment.
