1. Reservists of the 1910 to 1928 Clasees have been recalled for a 3-month
tour of duty,, to be trained in the newer methods of warfare. All reservists
do not appear to be called up at the same time. In the Yambol military
district, 1,200 men have been called up. These men are of all ranks and
come from the 1.929, 1930, and 1931 classes. These recalled reservists have
been distributed among various Bulgarian Army units and have been assigned
to barracks while the regular Army units of the regiments were sent to camps.
There has been almost no contact between the reservists and the regular Army
troops. Officers and noncommissioned officers of the regular units remained
in the barracks to train the reservists.
2. During his training period, a reservist is issued a rifle at the ordnance
warehouse each morning and.,, after training, he is required to turn it in
at the same warehouse every evening. A man standing guard duty is issued
a single cartridge..
3. The officers and noncommissioned officers giving instruction to the trainees
are convinced Communists. They teach Soviet tactics and how to handle the
Soviet weapons now being distributed to the Bulgarian Army.
