The Bulgarian Army now has a special system of identity disks for soldiers. These are not used like the united States Army "dog tags", though they serve the same purpose and have certain similarities with them. 2. Each disk is engraved with the Podelenie number of the unit, the letter in- dicating the company, and the personal number of the soldier in the company. This is not a serial number indicating the soldier's place in the army as a whole. The disks are about one inch in "size"'. 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 3. The disks are not worn by the soldiers. Each platoon commander keeps all the disks of his men in his own possession. They are issued to the soldiers only in case of an alert, on going into action, and on leaving for pass, or on furlough. Soldiers are strictly forbidden to show these disks to anyone, except to military police, who may demand to see them. These police patrols may make a note of the disks presented to them, and later report where an in- dividual soldier has been seen. This report is sent to the soldier's regiment. The patrols have no right to demand any other identification from soldiers whom they halt. 1. I LLomment: Probably one inch in diameter.
