SN't 402RD h TFIIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION DO NOT CIRCULATE Political control of the East German Fieteoroloticel and Hydroaogioal Service has recently- been tightened At the Second Congress of the SED, held in early fall, 1952, the following decision e were anrounced (transiate6) The decision of the Second Party Conference of the SEn to beein buildins up socialesm in the DDR provides further has for the sruggle for a united, peaceful, and democratic Germany This decision means that the SED will in- tensify and expand its fight for the unity of Gennany Our party organiza- tion, which has not previously been the leading force in the leteorological and Hydrological 3ervice of the East German eovernment, must improve its party contribution considerably, To 'do this the following must be doneg nembers and candidates must esteblish close ties with their co- workers and must pay careful attention to the surestions and creticisms of all their colleagues., Every member and every candi- date is ordered by the party to meet reeeilarly for discussions with three co-workers, who are not members of any party and whose names will be supplied, and te inform the party leadership at ].eat once a month on their line of thoueht. The members responsible for aeitation and propaganda will earefully elaborate and discuss these areenents once a week for one-helf)hour before the day's work begin..
