The purpose of this report, an update of the 1975 Cr i t real Col lect ion Problems Committee (CCI'C) study, i s to provide a detailed review and evaluation of the scope of (I.S. and allied into ii igeucc activities against the North Korean target. This review (1) examines current collection activities against the North Korean target including that support obtained from friendly foreign governments; (2) evaluates these collection efforts and makes some recom- mendations for improvement; (3) assesses the adequacy of the intelligence production; and (4) provides an assessment of impact of loss or curtailment of U.S. intelligence activities in South Korea and a review of alternatives to respond to such losses B. The withdrawal of U.S. ground troops from Korea over the next. several years may require some adjustment in the intelligence programs and resources described in this report . C. All -source collection resources and associated North Korean targets (Figure 1) and a table showing the all- source array of collection resources (Figure 2) are included as an attachment to the study on pages 11-20.
