Pursuant to its terms of reference, the majority of GMAIC requests that the. Board approve the establishment of the. following Subcommittees of GMAIC: a. Deployment (Training and Sites) b. Production c. Technical (Characteristics, etc. ) These committees. will work under the direction. of GMAIC. 2. The Army member considers it unnecessary and highly un- desirable to create a permanent organizational substructure of subcom- mittees under GMAIC. Deployment and production working groups of a semi-permanent nature do appear desirable as a result of the recent clarification of GMAIC responsibilities in.these areas. The functions of such sub-groups should not require a. major portion of the full working time of the individual members but should concentrate on the exchange of new evidence and preliminary analyses. 3. The Navy member. believes that. the present GMAIC structure is adequate to perform the tasks assigned by the. USIB. He believes that ad hoc working groups convened by GMAIC, as appropriate, are more desirable than permanent subcommittees for providing the. requisite support in the areas listed. ,5)6- J J /~ ' /~%~' cr EARL McFARLAND, JR. o C 1 1 USAF o ne,.
