2. (Unclassified - KSN) LIAISON Mr. Morrison, on the staff
of the House Select Committee on Assassinations, called and informed me
that the Committee had two FBI background investigation 'Packages for
to pick up. I passed the message t STAT
3. (Unclassified - RSG) 4 Talked with Dr. Neal, Office
of the Archivist of the United States, in response to the-Archivist's letter
of 18 November 1977 which questioned whether the CIA wished to review
documents in the possession of the Archivist prior to release of these
documents to the House Select Committee on Assassinations. These
documents were Rockefeller Commission material, all of which were
originally generated by the White House and all of which have former
President Gerald Ford's authorization to release the documents to the
Committee. I indicated to Dr. Neal we had no concern at this point to
intercede and suggested that the documents be made available directly
to the Committee. I thanked him for alerting us to these materials and also
indicated that I would be in touch with Trudy Peterson, also of the
Office of the Archivist of the United States, next week to begin review of
Warren Commission files generated by CIA in preparation for release
to the Select Committee.
4. (Unclassified - RJK) LIAISON Talked with Col. Steve Harrick,
OSD Legislative Affairs, concerning compartmented clearances for
personal staffers. I went over the list of personal staffers now holding
compartmented clearances and Col. Harric < believes that all should be
deleted. He added that the Secretary of Defense couldn't do this on his
own and would look to the DCI to carry out the policy.
