and Dr. Sayre Stevens, DDI, to a briefing of the Subcommittee on Priorities
and Economy in Government, Joint Economic Committee, on Soviet and
Chinese economies. (See Memorandum for the Record.)
34. (Unclassified - GLC) LIAISON Talked to Chairman Daniel K.
Inouye (D., Hawaii), Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, concerning
his earlier inquiry regarding the purchase of a CIA flag. (See Memorandum
to DCI, dated 24 June 1977, OLC 77-2593.)
35. (Unclassified - GLC) LIAISON Talked with DIA,
and gave him some feedback from the Director's appearance e ore the
Subcommittee on Priorities and Economy in Government, Joint Economic
Committee (DIA is scheduled to appear before the Subcommittee tomorrow).
36. (Unclassified - GLC) LIAISON Received a call from Bill Miller,
Staff Director, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, who referred to
some of our previous conversations on the subject.of Agency directives
regarding contacts with U. S. news media. Miller asked me if there had
been any other directives on this subject other than the basic pronouncement.
I told Miller I was quite certain there had not been although, as he knew,
former Director George Bush had expanded his original policy determination
to apply to stringers as well as regular employees of news organizations.
Miller said he recalled this but just wanted to check to see if anything new
had been disseminated. I told him I would check on this and get back in
fmic+ with him.
