LIAISON I received a call from
Mr. William Briggs of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Mr. Briggs is interested in being briefed on substantive intelligence
produced by the Agency on crop forecasts. In response to my inquiry
regarding clearance status, Mr. Briggs stated that he was applying
this week for his clearance. I told him that I was certain that the Agency
would be happy to help him when he has the appropriate clearance. He
understood that and then asked who would be his contact point here at the
Agency when he does get his clearance. After talking with
CPS/DDI, I passed his name to Mr. Briggs.
36. LIAISON Received a call from Ms. Amy
Belasco, GAU, requesting the classified version of the study done by
the DDI entitled "Communist Aid to African Countries" and the transcript
of a briefing given by the DDI to an Executive Session of the Subcommittee
of African Affairs, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on 6 April..
After discussion with the Center for Policy Support, I called. Ms. Belasco
and informed her that the new version of the study she requested would
be ready in a week or ten days for her to study here at Headquarters
but that the transcript of the briefing was not releasable to her. (See
Memorandum for the Record).
