Wednesday - 7 December 1977
1. LIAISON Exchanged telephone calls
with Dan Swellinger, Deputy Special Counsel, Senate Select Committee
on Ethics, in order to arrange an appointment for his first visit to the
building for indoctrination and review of files. We settled on 9 December,
at 2:00 p. m. Mr. Swellinger indicated he would be accompanied by
four staffers.
2. LIAISON Received a telephone call from
Peter Stockton, Researcher, House Interstate and Foreign Commerce
Subcommittee on Energy and Power, who asked for the telephone number
of Carl Duckett, former DDS&T. I advised Mr. Stockton I would have
to call him back. I contacted Mr. Duckett and got his concurrence in
my providing Stockton with his telephone number, which I later did.
During the same call, Stockton inquired into the status of a
list of requirements he had left with Ted Shackley, ADDO, when Stockton
was briefed by Shackle O/SA/DO/O was
advised.
4. LEGISLATION Spoke with Keith Raffel,
on the staff of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, who wanted to
know what we thought of his travel and allowances sections of the charter
legislation which he had sent us recently. I mentioned to him several
general concerns which O/DDA, and I had discussed
and told him we would be glad to sit down with him to discuss our specific
concerns. We tentatively agreed to meet next Thursday, 15 December,
and Mr. Raffel said if possible he would like to speak with
on a secure phone before that meeting. I told him we would consider this
and I would get back to him.
