(Unclassified - RJK) LIAISON Received a call from Mary Mann, OSD/I..egislative Affairs, who mentioned that they had received an inquiry about corrnp tmented clearances for Mark Moran, of Senator Frank Church's (D., Idaho) staff, I explained that we have received similar inquiries and that our position was that such clearances are not given to personal staff membeers, Ms. Mann agreed that this was also the DOD position. We agreed to be in touch if there were further developments on this matter. 17. (iinternal Use Only - RJK) LIAISON Spoke with Mr. Besly, OSD, Security Division, and discussed with him the request for updated background investigations for Seth Tillman and John Ritch, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, for whom compartmented clearances have been requested. Besly indicated he could assist us if the Committee submitted a request asking DOD to update the background investigations.
