I am writing to express my sincere thanks for your participation in
the recent ARPA- sponsored Summer Study in San Diego. Although
my schedule required that I leave the conference before your arrival,
I have heard from my staff and other participants that your articu-
lation of problems in intelligence and your comments in other
conference sessions were particularly germane and helpful.
The draft report of the Summer Study is now being prepared for
distribution to all participants. I hope that the recommended
research avenues proposed by the conferees will provide a frame-
work for well focused research with a high likelihood of payoff. I
would be pleased to meet with you after you have reviewed the report
to discuss any specific comments you might have.
