W
DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE
Security Committee
NOTES FOR: Community Security Group
1. What with all of us on a tight schedule and out of the
office more than in, I'll use this media to mention a few things
of possible interest.
2. Unofficial words:
a. DCI Turner will participate in some ceremonies
as his final days roll around.
14 Jan - NFIB reception
16 Jan - DCI Final Talk to CIA in Auditorium
(Time and attendance word will come
out soon.)
19 Jan - Senior officers in-house dinner for DCI.
b. Mr. Carlucci's plans are not clear. The press
has him going to DoD with Wiburger. There is some
speculation that he may go with private industry.
c. No word on Mr. Wortman's plans vis-a-vis
the new administration.

3. continues as our point man in connection with
all Transition activities. There is to be no contact with per-
sonnel of the new administr4tion or Transition Team members
without first checking with STATINTL
4. There has been no indication that our role and function
will change under the new Administration. Orders are Business
as Usual.
a. There will be an "accounting" time. We will
need by 9 January a short list of 1980 accomplishments
and a second list of ongoing activities to be completed
in 1981.

this week requesting nominations to replace

STATINTL 5 , and met with the DC I STATINTL
last Thursday. After reviewing the several Issue papers
received from the Community, the DCI instructed
to continue to press on with APEX against a start-up a e of
October 1981.
6. The usual suggestion was made this morning at the D/OS
staff meeting about not exchanging Christmas cards and donating
to charity instead. If you prefer, just tack a card up on the
notice board.
7. Take all the leave you had planned over the holidays.
Make sure however there are no pending items that others will
have to pick up for you unless you make appropriate arrangements
before you go.
8. I thank you for the work over the past year. While it
may not be visible at first glance, there have been accomplishments
and there is a better sense of "the security community" because
of what we have done and are doing. You all can take pride in
our efforts. I wish the very best of happiness, health and well
being for you and yours.
Merry Christmas,
STATINTL
