SUBJECT: Conversation with Mr. Anthony Lapham.
Tony Lapham talked to me about my decision to appeal
to the Attorney General's office for a reading on the
legality of classified sources and methods. He took
exception to my proposal to go to the Attorney General
for some very good reasons. I asked Tony if he would
personally debate this issue with Mr. Niederlehner,
who is General Counsel to Rumsfeld, and see if he could
persuade Defense to fall off their position. Tony agreed
to do this upon his return from vacation.
