Meeting with Rivers CIA Subcommittee of House Armed Services
8:30 a. m. - Wednesday, 27 April 1966
Mr. Chairman, I am happy to meet with you gentlemen again
today. If it is agreeable with you, I would like to list the items I plan
to discuss today. There have been many references to the Agency in
the press recently, and I have also included some items which were
suggestions from Mr. Blandford. The topics I plan to cover are:
a. The McCarthy resolution before the Senate Foreign
Relations Committee;
b. Press reference to CIA employees needing vacations
from the Gold Coast;
c. Certain civilian airline activities in Laos;
d. OXCART deployment to the Far East;
e. Missiles in Cuba; and
f. The current Vietnam picture.
I am also prepared to answer your questions on any other areas
of the world. If it is desired, I can give you a little further background on
the slander case of Heine v. Raus which is pending in the courts, and, of
course, I can discuss with you the Michigan State University matter which
has received a lot of attention in the press. If this plan is the will of the
Committee, I will proceed.
