SUBJECT: Meeting with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
1. The Director met with the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee in executive session beginning at 10:30 a. m. and lasting
approximately until 12:15 p. m. It was an executive session and a
transcript was taken. There was considerable discussion on the
question of whether the session should be open, in executive session,
and whether or not, if executive, there should be a sanitized transcript
released. Senator Mansfield took the lead making the motion that there
should be no release of the transcript even on a sanitized basis and this
was the final position.
