William Fulbright was ended today by a personal apology from Helms for writing a letter praising a newspaper editorial which had attacked Fulbright. "The Senator himself had no hard feelings, for, as he put it....?' FUZBRIGHHT: "I thought his statement was a very forthright and honest statement. He acknowledged that he'd made a mistake in signing this letter, that he explained the circumstances, which I think are understandable. On the whole I think he did an excellent job of explaining what -- a mistake which any of us, of course might make, but because of the sensitive nature of this agency it aroused more concern than it normally does, a" course."
