Cathode Ray Tube. Members of EXRAND and EXSUBCOM were briefed on the
transmission of imagery through Cathode Ray Tube. The tubes used were
off-the-shelf items. The resolution was very good. They tried to simulate
what you would expect on the next system and ran tests. with nine P.I.'s.
The results of the test were very encouraging. Stereo capability is not
yet available, but analysts indicated it would be needed.
Optical Bar Camera. IAS does not have any real problems analyzing
the photography from this system. reported that the problems
others were having seemed to have been blown out of proportion. The
photography could be handled with some slight adjustments in procedures.
The NPIC Planning Staff study on this problem indicated that the cost of a
possible solution may not be worth the potential gain. It would appear
that no action will be taken at this time.
IPC Group. Agenda for this scheduled visit on 2 October has not been
distributed but will be out later this afternoon.
Briefings for Mr. Allen. The schedule for briefing the new Director
of (AS has been distributed, subject to his approval.
The members briefly commented on various aspects of the paper before
deciding to defer it for additional study and consideration at a later
date.
