CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20505
1 July 1974
Rear Admiral Robert C. Gooding, USN
Commander, Naval Ship Systems Command
Department of the Navy
Washington, D.C. 20360
Dear Admiral Gooding:
On behalf of our analysts, I would like to express my appreciation
to your Command and especially to Capt. James W. Kehoe, Jr., and Mr.
Herbert Meier of the Naval Ship Engineering Center for their Naval
Architecture Seminar, presented at the National Photographic Interpre-
tation Center. Six of our analysts attended this series of five lectures
which provided an excellent survey of basic naval architecture, surface
combatant design considerations, and ship construction techniques.
The seminar was tailored to meet our specific needs as imagery
analysts and to enable us to provide better assistance to the ship
designers who are involved with the analysis of foreign vessels. The
knowledge gained by our analysts is, and will continue to be, invaluable
to our analysis and reporting.
The special effort exemplifies the excellent cooperation we have
come to expect from the U.S. Navy and I hope that we can provide equally
valuable assistance to you in the future. Once again, our thanks to
s. y and ?-. ~nm ~r
