1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: THE IRANIANS HAVE ADVANCED.APPROXIMATELY
15 NM IN THE SOUTHWEST OF AHVAZ.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: THIS AREA WAS VACATED BY IRAQI FORCES BETWEEN
AT LEAST TWO IRAQI ARMOR BRIGADES ARE JUST 25X1
INSIDE IRAN IN THE VICINITY OF 31-04-OON 047-53-OOE. AT LEAST
ONE IRANIAN ARMORED BATTALION AND ELEMENTS OF ONE FIELD
ARTILLERY BATTALION ARE DEPLOYED OPPOSITE THE IRAQI BRIGADES.
IRANIAN FORCES ARE CONSTRUCTING SEGMENTS OF AN 8 NM LONG BERM
ALONG THE FORWARD EDGE OF BATTLE AREA. THE BATTLE AREA NORTH
OF ABADAN-KHORRAMSHAHR REMAINS TIALLY UNCHANGED IN
CLOUD-FREE AREAS SINCE HOWEVER, MINOR 25X1
REPOSITIONING OF FORCES is OBSERVED.
